I read Ocean Child and I personally didn't like it. I had a hard time following her story and what she was saying. I feel as if she jumped around with the father and the child and at first i had no idea who she was. However she was descriptive and kept my attention throughout most of the story. Towards the end she did pull me back in with the ocean and the loss of her daughter.
Crane was a very descriptive and to be honest a little gross. The author really kept my attention by drawing a mental image for me. I found it interesting how she tied in the idea of her death as being a miracle. The author really put specific detail into the dead women and I think that's what really kept me focused on the story. Towards the end though I feel like she lost her way a little and just tried to make it a three minute story instead of keeping her strong work going.
Snow Angel Boy was interesting and a bit funny. As I read i kept thinking that the wife was a little crazy, the husband was just barely capable of tolerating her antics with the snow village, and the son was a representation of the small snow angel boy. The author was descriptive enough to hold my attention but there could have still been more. I didn't like the end, i was expecting the husband to tear the doll up or do something dramatic but he didn't and I found it a little sad.
